A Letter from a student…
This past spring, I was fortunate enough to work as an uncertified teacher on call (TTUC). Surprisingly, I ended up teaching in a lot of elementary schools, which was both a unique, and fun experience to teach in so many classrooms out of my specialty area. One of my biggest focus items going into this profession has been relationship building, but it has also felt more challenging to maintain this when entering into particular classrooms for only one day. The selected artifact is a picture of a letter that a Grade 3 student wrote to me during stations at the end of one of my sub days. This day fell in one of my first weeks as a TTUC, and I was still navigating building relationships with students in such a short period of time. We were doing maker stations at the end of the day, and I was connecting with each of the students in their groups. This student had chosen the art station, and was making a card. I commented on her art, and asked her a few questions about it. She was thrilled that I was so interested in her card, that she said she was going to make one for me. This was what she gave me on her way out the door at the end of the day…
