About Me

My name is Jillian Welch, and I have just completed my final year of study as a secondary Teacher Candidate at the University of Northern British Columbia. I am driven by a desire to provide my students with various opportunities to explore and develop their interests. My previous education includes a Bachelor of Arts with a major in English and a minor in Global & International Studies. I am fluent in both English and French languages, and have an active background in French Language Arts; having graduated with a double dogwood from the French Immersion program, I also hold a level B2 D.E.L.F. (diplôme d’études en langue française) certification from the International Centre for French Studies. My experience related to teaching stems from my nine years as a swimming instructor and coach, as well as my two years as a Water Safety Instructor Trainer for the Canadian Red Cross. In addition to my passion for Language Arts, I enjoy writing creatively; I am currently working on my eighth novel, amongst other projects! In my spare time, I also enjoy playing guitar and piano, reading, and bullet journaling. Though I was raised in North Delta, I now live full-time in Prince George, and hope to pursue a teaching career in the North.
